Moellenberg served the Pflugerville Fire Department department for 44 years, beginning when it was an all-volunteer unit. He said he has seen the department evolve, but is proud that it's level of commitment will remain the same.

"When I look back on my time, this department has grown and moved through many challenges of the community," Moellenberg said. "Many years ago we adopted a motto that we do this because we care, and I see that carrying forward. These young firefighters are here because they care about this community and want to serve them."
